Taste Inc - 100% Chargrilled Chicken Fillets - Review

It should be plain to anyone who follows my blog that I'm a big fan of food. And when Taste Inc got in touch and asked me to review their 100% Chargrilled Chicken Fillet portions - Ready To Eat - how could I refuse?

Each of the two flavours I was sent, 'Original' and 'Spicy', came in handy 35g pouches as part of a 5-portion multipack strip so are perfect as an on-the-go snack.

I was trying to save them before sitting down properly to write this review but unfortunately both mine and my husband's hands kept dipping into the fridge to tear one off the strip, literally by snaccident. As a small aside, I was very grateful that they tore off easily, unlike the yoghurts I bought the other day which appear to be stuck together with concrete. I'm getting tired of trying to extract just one but ending up with three half torn lids in the process.

On receiving the chicken snacks, I was a little worried that they would a) be swilling in juice that would end up all over my fingers and face, or b) that they would be dry as a bone, but upon opening them, I was pleasantly surprised to find a lovely, juicy, tender piece of chicken that, despite not being encased in a sauce, was still nicely moist.

The 'Original' flavour fillet has an authentic chargrilled flavour and I must admit, slipped down very easily. Not being a fan of overly spicy foods, I was a little nervous of trying the 'Spicy' flavour fillet but thankfully the product left me with a nice bit of heat on my tongue rather than a flaming bonfire. In fact, I wouldn't have minded slightly more spice, and I suspect customers with a liking for hot foods might prefer a stronger flavour. However, I can imagine it going very nicely with some salad and a dollop of mayo in a pitta, if I wanted to jazz things up a bit.

Note to self: must not wolf down product before I've managed to photograph it. Oops!

Usefully, the portions can be kept in the freezer for a month and, though it doesn't state it on the packaging, they can be heated and eaten as a warm treat.

In terms of cost, the fillets are priced at 90p for a single sachet and £3.00 per multipack which I think is pretty good value for money.

Overall, I think these are a great idea and a handy (and tasty) snack or lunchtime accompaniment. Go out and grab one!

I wrote this review in return for the chargrilled chicken portions.
